Abrotion... If it is illegal, we had better…

A pregnant between married couples married legally is not the matter whether they choose abortion or baby bone because they have the legal right to choose. Between married couple, they might have problems with woman’s health, families and economical things to bone a baby and bring up a child. Otherwise, for non married couple, they might have more complicated problems such as economical separations, against from their families and other people’s eyes but it prohibited for them in Korea.

Saying my thought first, the legal right to decide abortion should be given to non married couple, too. We can’t just tell them to get married. Does the pregnant woman have to be a single mother? They can’t help choosing abortion. In this case, some problems are caused. Firstly, the woman can’t get the medical insurance when the operation is done something wrong medically because it’s illegal and some men might not feel responsibilities of the woman and baby. This irresponsible man would be charged to support just economically by the law when the woman claims to domestic court for it. This may get social problems.

Some people might be against saying the problems with religious believes, ethical matters and sex discriminations. I don’t think these points are wrong. However, reality is that there is no institutional permission for the unexpected pregnant between non married couples. Unless it’s illegal and would not be changed, I want to say the non married couple should be careful when they have sex to avoid unexpected pregnant using contraceptive method.

Do you really believe 17.8km/liter??

I was pretty curious about hybrid car when I was planning to buy my car. Because I usually drive on highway and at least more than 500km every week, I couldn’t help considering its fuel efficiency. But I didn’t buy it because many people worried about some problems, fuel efficiency, access and costs to repair, and reliabilities of the advertisements. Although we have already talked this at the presentation, I want to say about more practical fuel efficiency.

Recently, there are several Korean hybrid cars in sales such as Sonata, K5 and Porte. Many people are using these cars paying much more than normal car. But the customers are not satisfied its fuel efficiency. It’s quite different from the advertisements. It’s true that the Korean hybrid car has more efficient mileages but it’s not much. Moreover, the company just insists the fuel efficiency could be different from how people drive. To tell the truth, they are right.

But the problem is the efficiency can’t be true in real driving. Moreover, research and news article shows that Korean hybrid cars have got lower fuel efficiency than overseas diesel sedan like BMW and Volkswagen. For example, the official fuel efficiency of Avante Hybrid LPi and BMW 320d are same as 17.8km/l. Does it really same? Absolutely not…

What I’m saying is Korean hybrid car might be premature yet. They are just busy selling cars with exaggerated advertisement, not enough engineers to repair hybrid car and high costs in purchase and repair caused by technical faults. Hybrid system will make our lives better but it’s not this time. The techniques should be more developed in order to be practical.

Who can guarantee GMO is safe?

It’s obvious that we are facing the problem with insufficient food. The population is getting higher while arable land is getting smaller due to urbanization which makes decrease the number of people working for producing field such as farmers and fisherman. The unpredictable climatic changes and political negotiations between the world powers are also significant factors causing food problem. In this international situation, GMO food might be one of the good solutions to manage with the food problem.

I don’t mind produce and consume it. It’s much cheaper than natural things and the producers can produce more efficiently. However, who can ensure GMO food is safe? We can see some cases caused by eating GMO food. New type of diseases and allergies which nobody has ever heard are occurring without knowing its causes. But we can say we eat GMO food every day. Just we don’t know it. It’s anywhere, in restaurants and markets. Last month, a Korean huge food producing company CJ was on the news. CJ is a well-known company that it doesn’t use GM ingredient but It was the company which imports the GM ingredients most in Korea and CJ didn’t notice they are using it on they products. KCA (Korean Consumers Agency) criticize CJ on its own regular publication and CJ admitted it and apologize to the people.

There are still arguments about safeties of GMO food between scientists, consumer groups and government. I think we need to be more careful in consuming GMO food and the companies must notice consumers to know when they but it based on the institutional law.

Don't you think we've paid enough?

Recently I’ve been extremely sensitive about the continuously increasing oil price because it’s directly concerned with my life style and career. 2 month ago, I’ve just been appointed as a field manager supposed to manage and monitor all kinds of utility fees and expenses in the construction field. There are many vehicles and machines consuming much fuel. Moreover, I spend much fuel too, driving more than 500km every week. Therefore, I’ve watched the news about the increasing oil price caused by Libya.
The presentation we had on Monday was really helpful to figure the increased oil price out and what we’re going to do with it. After that presentation, I heard that SK Energy, the most occupied oil refinement company in Korean, would temporarily reduce their oil price 100 won per liter and it was starting from 7^th of this month from radio news. And the other 3 companies are seriously considering this too. The oil refinement companies predict this decision would positively contribute to recent economic recession.

However, I just wonder whether the customers could get the 100 won discount for each liter from on this Thursday and it would help for economy recovery without government support. It’s obvious that more than half of oil price is for taxes. I don’t think the late economy depression caused by the incased oil price would get better unless the government does something for it. They just encourage oil refinement companies to reduce and answer to the people that it’s a hard work and they’re still reviewing and considering for many years. Hey~ Mr. Government… Don’t you think it’s the time to show something for the people? We’ve paid good enough!
